Solar & Storage Live 2025 at the NEC Birmingham was a fantastic opportunity to connect — and for the team at Solar Recycling Solutions (SRS), it marked a real step forward for awareness, momentum, and action around end-of-life solar panel recycling in the UK.
With record attendance, a packed programme of talks and panels, and non-stop activity on the exhibition floor, this year’s show proved one thing loud and clear: the solar industry is ready to talk about what happens after installation — and how we build a truly circular future.
High Interest in the UK’s Only Operational Solar Panel Recycling Plant
At Stand A30, we welcomed hundreds of visitors over the three days — from solar installers and EPCs to asset managers, investors, and sustainability leads.
Many were surprised to learn that SRS operates the UK’s first and only operational solar panel recycling plant, based in Dartford, Kent. Even more were excited to hear that we’re achieving over 99% material recovery, with all recovered materials reused within the UK.
There’s clearly growing recognition that solar’s sustainability story doesn’t end with clean generation — it must continue through responsible disposal, reuse, and materials recovery. And the best part? It’s already happening, right here in the UK.
The Circular Economy Conversation is Growing
One of the strongest themes throughout the event was the focus on circular economy solutions — and solar recycling is a crucial part of that puzzle.
Visitors were especially interested in:
- How the SRS recycling process separates and reclaims glass, aluminium, silicon, and other materials
- What happens to those materials after recovery (and how we avoid exporting waste abroad)
- The commercial and ESG value of choosing a UK-based recycling partner
- How to plan for decommissioning, repowering, or replacing damaged stock sustainably
It’s clear that the industry is not only thinking about circularity — it’s actively looking for partners that can deliver on it.
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
If you missed us at the NEC or want to know more about how SRS can support your solar operations, feel free to reach out. Whether you’re managing 100 panels or 100,000 — we’re here to help you recycle smarter.
For anyone who didn’t catch us at the stand, it’s not too late to book a visit. We’re currently taking bookings for future tours of the SRS plant, and we’d love to show you how the process works in person.
Thank You to Everyone Who Stopped By
Finally, a huge thank you to the Solar & Storage Live team for organising such a brilliant event — and to everyone who stopped by to learn more, ask questions, or just say hello.
We’re heading back to Dartford energised, inspired, and more confident than ever that solar recycling has a major role to play in the UK’s clean energy future.
